Lubbock Player Wins $1 Million on Powerball Quick Pick Ticket
Someone in Lubbock just scored $1 million from the Texas Lottery, thanks to a Quick Pick ticket. They’re one of only a handful of Powerball winners so far this year, with most of the jackpot winners in 2026 hitting it big with scratch-offs.
The last lottery ticket I bought was a scratch ticket when I bought a few for stocking stuffers just before Christmas. And I can’t even remember the last ticket I bought for myself. The truth is that I’m a total pessimist when it comes to any sort of gambling, so I rarely do it.

But if I were to buy a Powerball ticket, I would most certainly go the Quick Pick route. The way I see it is that with my luck, if I were to always play the same numbers, those numbers would hit the jackpot the week in which I got busy and forgot to buy a ticket. Yeah, someone would have to talk me down off the ledge if that happened.
Anyway, enough about me. Someone with much better luck than me scored $1 million on a Powerball ticket they bought at Stripes Store #42525H, located at 806 34th St., in Lubbock, according to a press release. The anonymous Lubbock resident matched the five white ball numbers drawn (6-24-39-43-51), but not the red Powerball number (2).
Aside from awarding billions of dollars in prizes to players since its inception in 1992, the Texas Lottery has also given billions of dollars to support education in the Lone Star State, as well as Texas veterans.
