Yellowstone is a great show on the Paramount Network.  It brought the life of the American rancher to TV and people fell in love.

Most of the show takes place in Yellowstone in Montana, however, in the last few seasons the story has brought the Four Sixes Ranch (6666) into the forefront.  The Four Sixes Ranch is a actually working ranch and not a fictional place.  In fact, this ranch has been around for more than a century.   The great thing about the Four Sixes Ranch is part of it is right here in the Texas Panhandle.  If you happen to be going to Borger and take 207 into town (not the Fritch way), you will drive by the Four Sixes Ranch.

The Four Sixes Ranch started in 1870 with Captain Samuel "Burk" Burnett.  According to history, Burnett bought 100 head of cattle from Frank Crowley all branded with 6666.  This was the start of the Four Sixes Ranch.

The ranch is currently owned by Yellowstone co-creator Taylor Sheridan, who purchased it in May 2021.

Ranch life isn't new to Sheridan he grew up on a ranch in Cranfills Gap, Texas.

Fun Fact:Taylor Sheridan was inducted into the Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame in 2021

The history of this ranch and all ranches are fascinating. I love the fact that Taylor Sheridan is continuing the legacy of this historic ranch and bringing part of the history to the world through entertainment.

I'm sure we'll see much more of the Four Sixes Ranch in the new season of Yellowstone and the spin-off 6666, which is currently in the pre-production stages. The series will focus on the history and the stories of the cowboys on the ranch. No casting has been announced for the spin-off. In the meantime, you'll just have to keep getting your Four Sixes fix from Yellowstone and Jimmy's storyline.

MASSIVE: Incredible Photos of the Historic 6666 Ranch

The sprawling 6666 Ranch is one of Texas' crown jewels. Established in 1870, the legendary Samuel Burk Burnett built himself an empire of cattle and Quarter Horses.

You can imagine the shock that rippled across Texas when the historic ranch that is twice the size of Chicago was listed for sale.

And it was certainly double the shock when the news came about that Taylor Sheridan, the director of the smash hit show "Yellowstone" was the winning buyer.

There's much to the story of 6666 Ranch and so little time to tell it, but first: just look at the incredible photos of this sprawling piece of Texan paradise.
