Giant Pink Condom Lowered Onto Australian Statue to Bring Awareness to AIDS [PHOTOS]

If this doesn't remind you to use a condom, I don't know what will.

You go Australia. In Australia they have a statue called the Hyde Park Obelisk. Apparently back in the 1850's it was used to treat sewage water. Don't know what it was doing underground at the time, but the top of it is this huge statue. The top portion was used to vent gases back in the day.

All you need to know is it looks like a huge penis and kind of looks like a smaller version of the Washington Monument. Everyone makes the same joke about the monument also looking like a dick. Well in Australia they decided to have some fun with this. By covering the Hyde Park Obelisk in a giant pink condom.

The condom will be over the statue for the next week. Some people can't take the joke and are getting offended. Australian Christian Lobby director and outdoor advertising lobbyist Wendy Francis spoke against the stunt, saying it was “disgusting” and “completely inappropriate”.

“My position on this is always that the government but also the community we have responsibility to our children,” she said. “Parents do not want to be forced into a situation where they have to explain something that’s not relevant. It’s an Obelisk and we’re turning it into a penis.”

I think this is a great idea to bring awareness to get people to use condoms. We live in America and I think its amazing. It gets people talking, laughing, all while making sure a good message comes across.
