Candice Swanepoel was born on October 20, 1988 in Mooi River, KwaZulu-Natal Province in South Africa. At 15, she was scouted by a model agent at a Durban market . By age 16, Swanepoel was already earning over $5,000 for a day’s work. After moving to Europe, she walked the runway for Tommy Hilfiger, Dolce & Gabbana, Fendi, Chanel, Givenchy, and Jean Paul Gaultier, among other designers. Swanepoel began modelling for lingerie brand Victoria’s Secret before officially becoming an Victoria’s Secret Angel in 2010.

Besides appearing for their promotional shoots, Swanepoel is the first South-African model to walk in the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. She has been ranked in several ‘hot’ and ‘sexy’ lists by men’s magazines and websites like FHM and AskMen.
