An All-New Electric Hummer Pickup Truck Is On The Way

Remember the Hummer? The big, military inspired, gas guzzling, testosterone powered off-road vehicle that most people never took off the road? It's been gone since GM discontinued the brand back in 2010. Well, it's back, and this time it's ELECTRIC.

What? Or should we ask, Watt?

GM has been teasing us the last few days with a tiny snippet of what will be a Super Bowl commercial to let us know that the Hummer, at least in pickup truck form, will be back soon.

The :15 ad doesn't really tell us much, but other sources indicate that the claimed 1,000 horsepower electric vehicle will go from 0 to 60 in about 3 seconds. That puts it right in the same neighborhood as the 2020 Corvette which claims 2.8 seconds. By comparison a 2018 Ford F150 Raptor will do 0 to 60 in just under 6 seconds. And the Hummer will be able to haul more than just your golf clubs.

The GMC website isn't telling us a whole lot more, except that they have an official reveal scheduled for May 20th of this year. Then we'll have to wait until 2022 to get our hands on one of these machines.

One thing is certain. It's bound to be better looking than Tesla's Cybertruck EV.

Edmunds, the long-time authority on all things automotive doesn't have a lot to add right now, either. Maybe we'll get a little more info during the Super Bowl.
