Just a few hours ago, Texas UIL released their new enrollment numbers for division realignment next year and from what we're seeing Legacy is moving up.

It's about to be a big week for Texas high school football with the playoff games coming up the next few days at AT&T Stadium. However, it looks like a Texas UIL announcement will be affecting us locally in Wichita Falls.

Texas UIL Enrollment Numbers 2026-2028 for Realignment

As of right now, both of our high schools in Wichita Falls are currently in 5A Division II. However, with the latest numbers released by the UIL website for their realignment, it looks like the Legacy Leopards will be moving to 5A Division I next year because of SIX students.

Wichita Falls ISD Enrollment Numbers

  • Wichita Falls Legacy 1836
  • Wichita Falls Memorial 1605

Those enrollment numbers were submitted at the end of October this year and it looks like with the new realignment, Legacy moves up and Memorial stays put with where they already are. You can see the enrollment numbers on the Texas UIL website.

WFISD on Legacy High School Potentially Moving Up

I called the athletic department with the WFISD and they told me they usually find out officially what happens with the realignment in February when the district assignments are announced. So I guess we will wait and see what happens, but it looks like the Legacy Leopards and the Memorial Mavericks will no longer be in the same division from what many are reporting.
