The Dallas Mavericks had an 'exciting' announcement this morning, but not exciting news for all of us in Texas.

In Case You Missed It, Dallas Mavericks Parted Ways with BSSW

If you missed the announcement a few weeks ago. The Dallas Mavericks and their TV partner at the time, Bally Sports Southwest agreed to end their contract. Considering the fact that the Mavericks tip off the regular season in late October. Many fans were wondering what the future of watching the Mavericks was going to look like. Well this morning the Mavericks announced a partnership with TEGNA.

Dallas Mavericks Sign New TV Deal

For fans in the Dallas market, they will be able to watch the Mavericks on WFAA. Which is truly awesome news...for fans in Dallas. What about the rest of us in Texas? A few other cities were announced as well.

  • TEGNA stations
  • Waco (KCEN and KAGS)
  • Tyler (KYTX)
  • Midland-Odessa (KWES)
  • Abilene (KXVA)
  • San Angelo (KIDY)

What About Us in Wichita Falls?!

Well I decided to look into what TEGNA stations exist and we have NOTHING in the Wichita Falls area, according to the map on the TEGNA website. According to the Mavericks announcement they said, "TEGNA will work with partner broadcast companies to announce additional Texas markets in the coming days."

As of right now, I do not know how you will be able to watch the Mavericks in Wichita Falls. The NBA League Pass has blackout restrictions and I think with our proximity to Dallas. They think we can watch on WFAA (believe me, we have been blacked out in Wichita Falls before because of this).

Dallas Stars Streaming for FREE

The Stars announced their upcoming games not on the national broadcast schedule will be broadcasted for free on a new app. I was hoping for something like this with the Mavericks, but sadly no luck. Hopefully some sort of deal is met in the next few weeks.
