Obviously today is the big day for the Christmas tree in your house. When it's time to get it out, here is where you can take it in Wichita Falls .

Growing up in my house, my dad was like the dad in 'A Christmas Story'. You bought a real tree or a tree did not go up. Plain and simple. If you put up a real tree for Christmas, at some point it will need to go. The City of Wichita Falls offers four locations for you to take your tree when you want to get rid of it.

City of Wichita Falls Christmas Tree Drop Off Locations

• Lucy Park on Sunset Lane off Seymour Highway.
  
  • Drive to the south side of the park near the Duck Pond, following the signs.
  • This site will be open Monday through Sunday from 5:00 a.m. to midnight.
• Kiwanis Park at 4400 Southwest Parkway.
  
  • Drop-off is next to the Parks Maintenance Building at the park’s entrance.
  • This site will be open Monday through Sunday from 5:00 a.m. to midnight.
• The Transfer Station at 3200 Lawrence Road.
  
  • The operating hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
• The City Landfill at 10984 Wiley Road.
  
  • The operating hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m

Friendly reminder that all of these locations are closed on Christmas Day, but will be ready for your trees starting December 26th. Please remove all light, ornaments, or any other non-natural materials from your tree. The city will be turning your Christmas tree into mulch that will go into our cities parks. Don't want any unnecessary plastic going into the mulch. Show your proof of residency at the Transfer Station or Landfill for free tree disposal.

DO NOT LEAVE CHRISTMAS TREES OUT FOR GARBAGE PICKUP!

The city of Wichita Falls will not be picking up Christmas trees left at the curb for trash pickup, so don't do it! Hopefully you have a Merry Christmas and have fun with that tree a little bit longer before it's time to take everything off.
