Looks like a former Sooner and current NBA player is getting a side gig at the University of Oklahoma.

With March Madness settling in on the Final Four over the weekend, a former Oklahoma Sooner is getting back into the college game. Trae Young who played for Oklahoma in 2018 announced that he will be helping out the school that helped get him drafted into the NBA. Now Young will still be an Atlanta Hawk, but he's helping out his old college as assistant to the general manager.

In just one season at the University of Oklahoma. Young was named, winner of the Wayman Tisdale Award for National Freshman of the Year by the United States Basketball Writers Association. Big 12's Freshman of the Year and was a member of the All-Big 12's First Team. In addition, he was also brought up as a consensus member of the All-American First Team. Although Young left for the NBA draft after his freshmen year, he still is going to give back to Oklahoma.

What Will Trae Young's Job Be at Oklahoma?

“I think obviously today the game has changed,” Young said. “With NIL… I think it’s the perfect time for guys to be more involved with the schools that helped make them who they were.” This has become a new thing with current NBA players to do at their alma maters. For instance Steph Curry has a similar role at Davidson University.

Young has also made a one million dollar donation to the Oklahoma Sooners N.I.L. to help get the school to sign the next big name player. We will wait and see if Trae Young helps attract some future Sooners to Oklahoma.
