'What do you call this place again, the surface of the sun?'

You can't complain about the heat in Texas. It's Texas, we expect it to be hot here. When Texas is beating out the big names when it comes to heat. It has me ready to thank the inventor of air conditioning. It's all thanks to the dreaded heat dome.

What is a Heat Dome?

A ' heat dome' is a large, stationary area of high pressure in the upper atmosphere that traps warm air near the surface, leading to extreme heat and dry conditions. The warm air is unable to rise and disperse. Sort of like if you put a lid on a boiling pot of water. Well the heat dome is supposed to be over Texas on Wednesday and parts of Texas will be in the triple digits.

To our friends in South and Central Texas be prepared to stay hydrated on Wednesday. Looks like the majority of cities will be experiencing record highs for May on that day. The worst of which appears to be Laredo, Texas which is predicting temperatures around 113 degrees.

We will have to wait and see if South Texas is hottest place on Earth on Wednesday. Typically Death Valley, California has bragging rights for being one of the hottest places on Earth. Texas will be it out this week. Apparently the only part of the world that will be close will be the Sahara Desert in Africa, according to KSAT. Thanks a lot heat dome, summer temperatures kicking off before Memorial Day.
