Texas Driver Gives Up on Field Sobriety Test

Sometimes you just have to know when to say when. And I’m not just talking about when you’re having drinks, because frankly, I’ve had one too many more than a few times. No, I mean there’s a time to know when to give up trying to convince the cops that you’re not drunk when you’re clearly plastered.

It’s good to see the guy in the video below understands this. He makes a brief attempt at walking a straight line before giving himself up for arrest. It turned out to be a much better use of his time. Why delay the inevitable when you can just go ahead and get it over with?

I like to look at videos like this one as a sort of Public Service Announcement (PSA). I figure if it helps one person out, it was worth sharing. I’ve always been a big advocate for cooperating with the police. Being difficult won’t do anything but make a bad situation worse.

But there will always be people like this guy who think they are untouchable.

Trust me when I tell you that the only thing denying a field sobriety test will get you is being hauled off to jail, as the officer can still arrest you based on other evidence that you are intoxicated. And not to mention the fact that your refusal will be used against you as a sign of guilt.
