Are you plagued by nightmares? If so, it could have something to do with the city you live in. A recent study found three Texas cities are among the most likely to give you nightmares. 

I don’t know if I would say that I’m plagued by nightmares, but I do have them quite often. I’ll have a random bad dream from time to time that will cause me to wake up in a cold sweat with my heart racing. But I also have recurring nightmares.

Particularly, I have a nightmare about a tornado bearing down on me about once every three months or so. It makes sense, though. I’ve called Tornado Alley home my entire life. Not to mention the fact that when I was a little boy, I witnessed the tornado that struck Vernon, Texas, on Terrible Tuesday in 1979.

The Study Behind the Sleepless Nights

That sort of thing was the basis for the study conducted by NapLab. They ranked cities according to scary stuff like an unusual amount of ghost or alien sightings, a high number of haunted houses, the number of venomous spider species, and places where sleep deprivation is rampant, among others. 

Ultimately, San Antonio was the Texas city most likely to give you nightmares, followed by McAllen and El Paso. So, if you’re prone to nightmares and live in either of those three cities, maybe a change of scenery will do you good.
