Tenacious D is one of several artist to contribute to the Ronnie James Dio tribute album, covering his song "Last in Line," which is streaming online.

Band members Jack Black and Kyle Gass were friends of Dio, working with him on several occasions including his role in their 2006 movie The Pick of Destiny.

According to Black, "Dio was the master. The Pavarotti of heavy metal vocalists. Soaring melodies and a lion's roar to match. He was also one of the coolest guys I've ever had the honor of meeting. No one could touch his brilliance, on or off the stage."

The album, titled "This is Your Life," also features artist like Corey Taylor, Metallica, Halestorm, Rob Halford, Anthrax and others, each of which perform their favorite Dio song from his long and successful career.

According to Gass “It’s hard not to pick a great Dio track, but this one appealed to us. Recording the track was a blast. Our electric guitarist John Konesky shredded a solo. I said, ‘That’s pretty good, but let’s try out my recorder.’ Lo and behold it shredded even more and added a unique element to the track. Dio obviously has been a major influence and inspiration for the D. His performance in The Pick of Destiny was a magical moment for us, and we’ll always miss him. Rock on, Dio.”

The album is in stores now and all proceeds go to benefit the The Ronnie James Dio Stand Up And Shout Cancer Fund, which raises awareness about cancer and supports cancer-prevention research.
