Taliyah Brooks is coming back home to Wichita Falls after medaling at the World Athletics Championship.

Always have to give a shout out to those exceeding in the world that came right here from Wichita Falls. The former Rider Raider Taliyah Brooks recently competed in the World Athletic Championship over in Tokyo last week. She actually got the same amount of points as the 2023 winner Katarina Johnson-Thompson out of Ireland.

Taliyah Brooks Bringing Bronze Medal Back to Wichita Falls

Taliyah finished with 6,581 total points which put her at an exact tie with Katrina Johnson-Thompson for a bronze medal. The final part of the heptathlon that Taliyah was competing in was the 800 meter race. Taliyah wasn't sure if she got third or fourth until the final times were posted.

"I was looking up at the board and I was trying to count in my head, and I knew I had five seconds. I said five seconds, but I didn’t know if it was five and a half to six, but when I saw the time, I was thinking, ‘it’s going to be really close,'" Taliyah told the Olympics website.

Medal Event at Booker T. Washington Elementary on October 2

Taliyah announced today she plans to be a Booker T. Washington Elementary at 6PM this Thursday. You can get pictures with Taliyah and guests are encouraged to wear red, white, and blue since Taliyah helped America get a medal in the World Athletics Championship.

Best of luck to Taliyah in her next event and hopefully she brings some more medals back to Wichita Falls.
