Godsmack is on the road with the Rockstar Energy Drink Uproar Festival, and on August 31st they found themselves in Pittsburg. During the concert, a fan made his way on to the stage and ran around for a few seconds, placed a hat on Sully Erna’s head, and then got tackled by security. The incident prompted Erna to stop playing in order to tell security what he thought of the way they handled the fan.

In the footage below, you can see the event take place, and afterward Erna tells security that their actions are unnecessary and that the fan should be allowed to return to watching the show.

It’s no surprise that security would be jumpy about unwanted visitors to the stage. Darrell Abbott, otherwise known as Dimebag, was shot and killed onstage during a Pantera concert in 2004.

Chances are that the fan in the video below didn’t intend any harm to the band, but the man had no business being on stage and security was simply doing their job. On the other hand, if he had gone up with harmful intentions, the team was slow in getting to him and Erna could have been injured in the time it took security to take the fan down.

What do you think? Did security use unnecessary force?
