In a scene straight out of the Burt Reynolds classic Smokey and the Bandit, a semi led police on a chase this morning in Mesquite, Texas.

I see an overwhelming number of police chase videos on social media these days. I feel like I don’t go more than about a month without posting one on this platform.

The thing that has always baffled me about folks leading the police on a chase is that they must know the odds of them actually escaping custody are slim to none. The reality is that they’re just making things worse for themselves.

However, out of all of the police chase videos I’ve seen, I don’t recall one involving a semi until today. I’m sure plenty of truckers have tried to evade the police over the years, but it’s just that I’ve never witnessed it before today.

The unfortunate thing is that we don’t know how the chase ended. But my money would be on the police eventually arresting the trucker. I mean, it’s not like that semi is going to outrun a police car and will run out of fuel at some point.

But who knows? Maybe, just maybe, that villainous trucker was able to get the upper hand and escape the long arm of the law. However, I highly doubt it.
