As should all schools around the country. Not because I find it offensive, just because I hate the team.

Shockingly, this school is actually in the Washington DC area. Sidwell Friends school is in the northwest area of Washington DC and will have a new policy for this coming school year. Students who show up to school in Washington Redskins gear will be disciplined and will be in violation of the school's uniform policy.

“Our student government passed a resolution stating that the mascot of the District’s National Football League team is offensive and antithetical to the values of the community,” Sidwell’s head of school Bryan Garman informed parents, according to Washingtonian magazine.

I hate the Redskins and even I think this is a dumb policy. I remember back when I was in elementary school, Oakland Raiders gear was banned. Why? Simply because that is what the rap group N.W.A. wore all the time. I remember my one friend's Dad was a Raiders fan and bought his son a Raiders Starter jacket. He was told to turn it inside out and not bring it back to school again. Needless to say, his dad was pissed.
