Keep Scrolling to Check Out Some Wichita Falls Concert History
Let's go back to the year 1980 where the city of Wichita Falls was known as the mecca of music. Seriously, I stumbled upon an old Times Record News article talking about all the live music that was coming to Wichita Falls in 1980. Concerts were happening at Memorial Auditorium, Midwestern State University and the newly reopened Original Wichita Opera House. Today you know that last one as The Wichita Theatre nowadays.

Sammy Hagar Brings Danger Zone Tour for Two Nights in Wichita Falls
A few years later in 1986, Kenny Loggins would be known as the 'Danger Zone' guy, but back in 1980 Sammy Hagar was on the Danger Zone tour. His fifth studio album at the time with the same name had a tour run from June to September of 1980. According to a tour archive website, Wichita Falls was the only city to get two tour stops on the Danger Zone tour. With stops at the Original Wichita Opera House on September 4th and 5th with the band Black Horse opening for Sammy.
Ever Heard of Black Horse?
This band opened for Sammy Hagar in Wichita Falls on both nights (It would be the only stops on the Danger Zone tour they would play). They only put out one album in 1979 and it's a band from right here in Texas. Since they only put out one album. It's tough to find a lot on them. The album above was recorded in Dallas and the three piece band is apparently from Mineral Wells.
That's pretty much all I could find on these two nights in Wichita Falls. If anybody has photos from the show or any other information. Please feel free to send my way.
