Shout out to Rusty Newton, helping put Wichita Falls in the spotlight a few weeks ago.

I'm not sure how many people were aware two weeks ago that Extreme Shot Italia was taking place in Italy. They claim to be the largest ELR (Extreme Long Range) global show. 226 teams competed from 30 different countries and it looks like someone from right here in Wichita Falls did VERY well over the weekend.

Rusty was competing in the heavy division of the ELR shooting competition against 76 others. According to KFDX, he was actually in first place the majority of the day since he competed early. However, he would finish in second , bringing a silver medal back to Wichita Falls. You can watch Rusty in the link above from the event in Italy.

Watch Rusty Set a World Record Below

Back in 2021, Rusty set a world record for 'Cold Bore' in ELR. Cold Bore refers to your rifle not being used for at least 24 hours and can you hit your long distance target in your first three shots. Rusty set the record at the time with nailing three shots from 2,298 yards away.

Rusty told KFDX, he would like for this to become his full time job. He currently works in the oil field, but would love to make ELR a business. I say, if you keep getting these top finishes. Hopefully these companies get you some cool sponsorships to make that dream a reality. Good luck to Rusty on all his future competitions!
