The news came as a surprise to many in the music industry Wednesday morning (Oct. 17). All That Remains guitarist Oli Herbert, also a founding member of the group, had passed away at the age of 44.

While details of Herbert's death are still sparse, it has been revealed that the musician died in an accident at his home. The musician joined All That Remains in 1998 and, along with singer Phil Labonte, was one of two original members still with the band. He appeared on nine studio albums with the group, including Victim of the New Disease, which is due Nov. 9.

In the band's own statement about Herbert's death, they encouraged fans to respect the privacy of the family, but to celebrate Oli's memory by reflecting on the great music he made.

A number of Herbert's peers have taken that suggestion to heart, not only reflecting on his musical legacy but on some of the great times shared with the musician.
