Three more vinyl reissues from Pink Floyd's past will be released next month. The trio of albums leading up to the band's mainstream breakthrough LP The Dark Side of the Moon -- Atom Heart Mother, Meddle and Obscured by Clouds -- will be reissued on Sept. 23.

The new releases follow the vinyl reissues of other Pink Floyd albums earlier this year, including The Piper at the Gates of Dawn, A Saucerful of Secrets and More. The Wall and The Division Bell vinyl reissues are due on Aug. 26.

The three new albums, as with each LP in the reissue campaign, have been remastered from the original analogue master tapes. All are transitional records by the band, which moved even further away from the early psychedelic music pioneered by Syd Barrett on its debut. Barrett was gone by the time these three albums – which came out in 1970, 1971 and 1972, respectively – were released.

These records helped shape the more expansive sound Pink Floyd explored on their first U.S. No. 1 album, 1973's The Dark Side of the Moon. Traces of their future can be heard in Meddle's core cuts – "One of These Days" and "Echoes," especially – and on parts of Obscured by Clouds, which was originally recorded as a soundtrack to the French movie La Vallée.

The new vinyl reissues precede the release of The Early Years 1965-1972, a 27-disc box set that's scheduled to arrive on Nov. 11. The collection documents the band's first seven years through a wealth of recordings, both previously released and unreleased. Most of the thematically compiled discs in the set are planned for individual release sometime next year.
