Since 2023, Ryan Walters has been the Oklahoma Superintendent of Public Instruction. In that short time, he claims he has dealt with 125 educator misconduct cases. Oklahoma has entered into a nationwide database to inform other schools throughout the country if one of their teachers has been accused of misconduct.

The system looks at professional misconduct, ethics violations, and criminal behavior amongst educators. Along with this new system is a lifetime ban put into place for seven Oklahoma teachers. They will never be allowed to teach in Oklahoma again and it also warns other schools in the country that they're banned within the state. Obviously, Oklahoma can not control what another school does in another part of the country, but they hope this system helps warn another school this individual should not be hired.

According to KTEN, those seven people will never be allowed to teach in an Oklahoma classroom again. They have been accused of rape, sexual misconduct, inappropriate relationships with students, and other serious violations of professional standards.

"We now have the ability to permanently remove dangerous individuals from Oklahoma schools, and we're using it aggressively," said State Superintendent of Public Education Ryan Walters in a written statement. "This isn't just a new process; it's a new era of accountability."
