2019 has been great for rock and metal in that a lot of bands are making general year-end lists, like Metallica being among Forbes' Top 10 highest-earning artists in 2019. Google has released its "Year in Search 2019" list, and Motley Crue were among the Top 10 trending artist searches this year.

Crue were ranked the No. 6 trending artist searched in Google's "Musicians and Bands" category. Unsurprisingly, they share the classification with pop, hip-hop and rap artists, making them the only rock act on the list. No country artists made the cut, though rapper Lil Nas X was also among the Top 10, who gained mass fame this year with the country-rap hit "Old Town Road" featuring Billy Ray Cyrus.

According to Google's "Interest Over Time" table in the Motley Crue results section, Mar. 24-30 was the peak of trending Crue searches. This was immediately after the Mar. 22 release of their biopic The Dirt, which was made available to an enormous audience as it was streamable on Netflix. Other prominent search periods were Nov. 17-23 and Dec. 8-14, which were marked by their return and eventual 2020 tour announcements.

The subregions that showed the highest interest were North Dakota, Wyoming, West Virginia, Iowa and Montana. The five most related topics were "Razzle - Drummer," "Accident - Topic," "Skylar Lynnae Neil - Vince Neil's daughter," "Wedding Photography - Topic" and "Hanoi Rocks - Rock Band." In addition, the five most related queries were "Motley Crue 2020," "Motley Crue tour 2020," "Razzle," "Motley Crue Razzle" and "Motley Crue 2020 tour tickets."

Between these statistics and the fact that Motley Crue saw a 350 percent increase in streaming on all digital platforms this year, it's safe to say that The Dirt was successful in garnering the band an extensive amount of attention. Thus, they are heading out on the road for The Stadium Tour next year with Def Leppard, Poison and Joan Jett and the Blackhearts.
