Have I ever mentioned that I absolutely love old school diners? I love the classic aesthetic of a “greasy spoon,” but at the end of the day, it’s all about the food.

A Nostalgic Love for Greasy Spoons

While it’s changed a lot since I was a kid in the 80s, my hometown of Vernon, Texas didn’t have a whole lot of fast-food places. So, yeah – I can wax nostalgic about old school diners all day long. That’s why I was stoked to come across loveFOOD’s list of the most charming roadside diners in every state. The best part is that the most charming diner in Texas can be found in Austin, a city I typically visit once or twice a year.

Where to Find Phoebe’s Diner in Austin

Phoebe’s Diner has three locations in Austin: Phoebe’s Oltorf Street, Phoebe’s Downtown, and Phoebe’s Gracy Farms. Each location serves breakfast, brunch, and lunch Monday through Sunday from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm.

While many people love the 50s vibe of Phoebe’s, the menu is anything but retro. Sure, they serve diner staples like bacon and eggs and pancakes, but it’s clear the folks behind Phoebe’s prefer to think outside of the box. It’s definitely a place adventurous eaters will want to try.
