How many videos of people getting seriously injured during street takeovers do people have to see before they realize participating in one is a really bad idea? You most definitely won’t catch me near one (not intentionally, anyway).

Of course, this is old me writing this. Young me would have been all about it, up until I witnessed someone getting launched into the air by a car doing a burnout. Even the younger version of myself steered clear of danger. I’ve never been much of a daredevil.

So, had I attended the takeover near Buckner in Dallas on Sunday, it would have been my last. Seeing the guy get smacked by the car doing a burnout in the intersection would have been enough to convince me that there are much better ways to spend a Sunday afternoon.

Hopefully, the guy is okay, because, like so many of these types of videos, we don’t get to see how it all played out. All we see is the dude gets thrown right before the video cuts off. Of course, everyone around was mindlessly taking videos with their phones, so someone out there has footage of the landing.

Many of the folks commenting on the video on X have no sympathy for the guy. While I agree with the sentiment that when you play stupid games, you win stupid prizes. I just hope he walked away from it and learned a lesson.
