Are you looking for a charming yet underrated town to add to your Texas road trip bucket list? World Atlas says this Hill Country town is the most underrated in the entire state.

Don’t get me wrong – I love to visit the big city. For me, a trip to the big city is typically for a specific event like a concert or a ball game. It’s rare that I ever travel to say, Dallas-Fort Worth, to explore the area. I find that to be overwhelming and a little stressful, thanks to the traffic.

As someone who likes to take things slow and easy, I would much rather explore a small town – especially one that has a lot going on, despite its size. That basically sums up Llano. The small town of just over 3,000 people is chock full of things to do and see.

Here’s what World Atlas has to say about Llano:

To add to Llano’s authentic Texas Hill Country vibe, try to time a visit to coincide with one of the town's many fun events and festivals. The Llano Earth Art Festival (LEAF), held each March at Grenwelge Park along the river, features the World Rock Stacking Championship. This unique event sees artists, adventurers, and audiences from around the world gather to construct stone sculptures and large-scale natural art installations, as well as participate in workshops.

There are also plenty of great places to eat in Llano, including one of former President George W. Bush’s favorite spots, Cooper's Old Time Pit Bar-B-Que. You can wash your meal down at one of several bars or craft breweries in town. Start planning your trip to Llano here.
