Another Wichita Falls, Texas Motel is Causing Headaches for the City
Here I thought I was gonna be writing a story about the hotel near The Falls.
People Love Breaking Into Abandoned Wichita Falls Hotels
One of the bigger stories over the past week has been the owner of the hotel near The Falls in town. The owner Rajendra Patel faces 233 Class C misdemeanor warrants in Wichita Falls. Municipal Court Administrator Stan Horton said those charges carry a total of $299,818 in fines. This hotel has become a hot spot for people to break into and go explore. Turns out, it's not the only one.
Old La Quinta Inn Off Central Freeway Now Causing Headaches
Looks like the City of Wichita Falls shut down this hotel for code violations back in November of 2023. The city is now having to deal with breaking into the property, just like they're doing at the Hotel by The Falls. Wichita Falls police were called out this week for a burglary, a male and female suspect were breaking windows at the property. The male suspect allegedly assaulted officers, resulting in one of them getting a broken finger and the other officer getting a minor head injury. According to Times Record News, Anthony Bowen was charged with two counts of assault on peace officers, two counts related to evading arrest and criminal trespassing. His total bail was set at $64,500.
Four others were arrested for criminal trespassing this week. So it looks like this spot has become another thing that the Wichita Falls police department has to monitor. The reason the hotel was shutdown is because the second floor has structural issues. We will wait and see what happens with the property. If it's anything like the Hotel at the Falls. It will be sitting there for quite sometime causing headaches.
