Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is looking into illegal tax increases in Texas and he directly calls out Wichita Falls in his letter.

Back in December, Ken Paxton said he was beginning an investigation because of a new Senate Bill. SB 1851 it "bars cities who do not strictly follow Texas’s financial statement audit and transparency requirements from raising taxes above the no-new-revenue rate." Ken Paxton warned several cities that they were not following the law. Well it looks like the investigation has taken a step further this morning.

Ken Paxton is now demanding several cities release annual financial audits by a specified deadline. If the city fails to release that audit, they cannot raise taxes. Ken Paxton mentions several cities that they're directly looking into and calls out Wichita Falls in his letter.

The Office of the Attorney General has created a complaint form that Texans can fill out if they believe local officials are violating SB 1851’s audit requirements and unlawfully raising taxes. The complaint form can be found here.

Ken Paxton's post from this morning has several comments from concerned Texans asking him to directly look into their specific city. We will have to wait and see if Wichita Falls is complying with the new Senate Bill or if they have done something illegal and we're getting some money back
