Jacob Rodriguez Comments on Possibility of Getting Drafted by the Dallas Cowboys

Wichita Falls own Jacob Rodriguez is one of those defensive players that a lot of teams are keeping their eyes on, including the team just a few hours away from where he grew up.

Texas Tech had an amazing regular season this year bolstered by some impressive defensive talent. One of the big names on that defense will not be there next year with senior Jacob Rodriguez entering the NFL draft. The experts are saying you can expect Jacob to be drafted in the 2nd or early 3rd round in this year's draft.

Dallas Cowboys in 2025 Historically Bad on Defense

Pictured above is the former Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus whose defense gave up a franchise high 511 points. Considering the 1960 and 1989 Dallas Cowboys are considered some of the worst NFL teams of all time, that is saying something. The Cowboys will definitely be using some of their picks on the defensive side of the ball and Jacob was asked at the Texas Tech Pro Day on what it would be like to be drafted by the Cowboys.

Jacob Rodriguez on the Possibility of Becoming a Dallas Cowboy

"It would mean a lot to play for any team," Rodriguez said when asked what it would mean to play for the Cowboys. "I was born in Minnesota but lived in Texas. The NFL is so competitive and so hard to play in that if you could get in anywhere, you join a fraternity that not many get to join. I'd love to play for any team and be anywhere I can to help a team win."

Jacob apparently had a dinner with some of the Dallas Cowboys staff and he elaborated on that a bit as well.

“It was fun,Rodriguez said. "It was really great to be in the building and sitting at dinner with a head coach in the NFL. Five year old, 10 year old me would be really happy, really proud. I was happy to be there. I loved it, loved all the conversations and looking forward to more.”

We will wait and see where Jacob Rodriguez goes, the Cowboys fans in Wichita Falls are hoping he ends up playing just a few hours away.
