Growing up in Texas we’ve always been taught that Milk does a body good, according to Chicago's Leader, that may not be the case if you live in New Mexico, Kansas, or even the great state of Texas. Chicago Leader stated that health officials have tested dairy milk here in the great state as positive for bird flu. Centers for Disease, Control, and Prevention says that bird flu is a disease caused by an infection with the bird influenza-type virus.
WHAT IS BIRD FLU EXACTLY?
This virus naturally spreads among wild birds worldwide and can affect domestic poultry and other bird animal species. Even though bird flu doesn’t necessarily affect humans sporadically, infections with bird flu have happened and can be harmful. Suppose an individual happens to be affected by the disease. The mid-upper respiratory can be affected by severe illnesses, including pneumonia, and multiple organ failures can happen which will lead to death.
WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR MILK IN TEXAS?
Cows here in Texas, are losing their appetite, the virus is causing a drop in milk production and changes in manure consistency. Even though this has affected farmers all over the great state of Texas, pasteurized milk would be considered a rare case to contain bird flu due to its processing requirements. There have been no reports of any harm being done to Texas during this milk fiasco but we urge Texans to stay alert.
