Check Your Registration: Some Texans Have Been Removed From Voter Rolls
Some Texans have come forward to tell how they have been purged from voter rolls, meaning they must either re-register or resolve an issue before they can vote in November's presidential elections.
In the popular r/Texas Reddit message board, Texans are encouraging others to check their registration status now, to ensure they will be allowed to cast their choice for president and other important government positions in the upcoming election.
The thread was headlined by an image of this tweet:
One Redditor offered this as a possible explanation:
Newish county election clerk here, Texas Secretary of State automatically sent everyone who’s registered new cards at the beginning of the year. The post office CANNOT forward these to a new address and they get returned to your county election office which sends an address correction form that can be forwarded to the new address, but the voter is placed in suspense status since their address appears incorrect (address determines precinct and which elections you vote in so correct address is important) It’s a quick fix with an online option.
However, if you find that you are not registered at all, you will either have to find a Voter Registrar's office, mail in your registration, or fill it out online, then print and mail it in.
Checking your voter registration is quick and easy, go to this website and enter the appropriate information. I found that I was registered and good to go.
Remember you must be registered 30 days before an election to participate. No matter what side of the political spectrum you're on, I encourage you to double-check and then make your voice heard at the polls this November.
