Texas Renaissance Festival Rolls On Through November

It's been a long time for me, but last weekend I attended an event near Houston that I haven't been to in 35 years, the Texas Renaissance Festival in Todd Mission, Texas.
It was amazing.

To say it's grown a bit would be a gross understatement, it appears to be about three times the size it was back in the day.

My daughter and her husband go to the festival every year and I understand why, it is quite an adventure. For this outing, we took my 7-month-old granddaughter. I knew this might shorten the day a bit, but we have to start them young, right? Baby Sara did great for about four hours before she cratered, just enough time for me to remember what hoot the RenFest truly is. Unfortunately, not enough time to see and do all there is to see and do. We only made it about half the way through the festival and missed a lot of great shows. Like the Mud Guys...

The Texas Renaissance Festival or RenFest as most call it, runs each year from the first of October through November. It's filled with artists, performers of all kinds, shops, food and drink. We started our day at the festival with a bottle of Mead and some delicious fried alligator... on a steek.

RenFest has themed weekends, we attended during the Heros & Villans weekend so the Cosplayers tend to get very creative with mashups like "Ye-old Iron Man". If you can picture that.

I can only imagine how cool the Barbarian Invasion weekend might be...
