Earlier this week, it was announced that Korn will be co-headlining this year's Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival along with Avenged Sevenfold and Jonathan Davis hit me up on the BuzzLine to talk about the festival.

As a fan, I absolutely love festivals. Whether it's an annual destination fest that takes place over several days or a touring festival, I love the atmosphere and the camaraderie of hanging out and having a good time with a bunch of rockers enjoying some live music. And as you might imagine, it's not much different for the folks playing the festival.

"I'm just excited to be out there, to have a good time and get to hang out with the guys," said Davis of playing festivals. "It's always been fun because we're in big sheds and everybody hangs out and barbecues and parties and does whatever they do and it's just a good time."

I just speak my mind, I don't care. Whenever you speak out about anything and as crazy as our government is right now people are gonna call you crazy, so I pretty much did what I was supposed to do.

Looking at the landscape of music these days, there aren't a lot of the old nu-metal bands still together, much less playing major festivals. Davis told me why he thinks Korn are still relevant in 2014.

"I think it's because we're constantly evolving and changing our music" he continues, "each record gives our fans something new."

The fact that Korn are still a big deal means that a lot of people want to talk to the band, even non-musical outlets like the Alex Jones Show. Davis recently drew flak for some of his comments on the show.

"I just speak my mind, I don't care," he said. "Whenever you speak out about anything and as crazy as our government is right now people are gonna call you crazy, so I pretty much did what I was supposed to do."

Korn and the Mayhem Festival will hit Dallas on Saturday, August 9 at Gexa Energy Pavilion. Tickets are on sale now at rockstarmayhemfest.com, but you can win a pair right here on our website.
