Houston Residents Furious When IRS Office Leaves Them Stranded
This is why you don’t drag your feet when it’s time to file your taxes.
While I understand the frustration of the people who were left stranded at the IRS office in Houston, you have to realize you’re dealing with the government. So, it’s not like you can take your business elsewhere.
As someone who has worked for both the federal and Texas state governments, I can tell you that neither is known for being efficient. Don’t worry, this isn’t some sort of political rant. I’m just telling you how it is.
Armed with the knowledge of just how slow our government operates; I always do my best to stay ahead in the game when it comes to filing my taxes. My experience is your best bet is to file through a service like H&R Block or TurboTax as soon as all your documents are available. Especially if you’re getting a refund.
But even if you suspect you may owe taxes, it’s best to get everything filed ASAP. If you’re on the level and not trying to get one over on the IRS, they’ll work with you on a payment plan.
Otherwise, you may find yourself in the same position as the irate woman in the below video.
