Another year coming to a close and when Guinness publishes their world records for this year. Here are the Texans that will be shown some love.

Every year around 50,000 people compete to be in the Guinness World Records. As you know world records can range from all kinds of activities and collections. Here are the ones that got broke in Texas for 2024.

Most Expensive Spider Man Comic Ever Sold (Dallas)

The year started out with a huge record from comic book sale. An auction in Dallas sold a copy of the first ever Spider Man comic. It was in such great condition that it sold for $1.38 million which is the most ever for a Spider Man Comic.

Most Criminals Apprehended By a Sketch Artist (Mostly Houston)

What maybe the most impressive record on the list comes from Lois Gibson. Now she primarily worked in Houston, but helped apprehend criminals with her sketches all over Texas. Thanks to her great detail in illustrations, she helped put 1,313 criminals behind bars. She has been featured in Guinness many times, but keeps breaking her own record year after year.

Most Hygiene Kits Assembled In One Hour (Dallas)

The Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority had a community event in Dallas to make hygiene kits to give out to the needy. During the event, they decided to see if they could break the record for most assembled in an hour. That record now stands at 8,500.

Most Signatures on a Car (Galveston)

Now this record is not from someone from Texas, but it was broken here. Sky Le broke the record for most signatures on a car. He travels all over the world, but the record was set in Galveston in July. Apparently the car has over 7,000 signatures, but Guinness determined that only 5,151 were valid. Still, it's a record.

Largest Collection of Video Game Kiosks (Austin)

Remember back in the day going to the store and playing video games in the aisle of your favorite store. Well Travis Alfrey of Austin has been buying those kiosks up for a collection that is now featured at Pinballz in Austin. You can find 100 kiosks in the collection.

Largest Fruit Display (Dallas)

In preparation for Cinco De Mayo, El Rio Grande Latin Market in Dallas knew they were going to need A LOT of avocados. So whyy not try and set a record? 301,000 avocados were seen in the display above which sets the record for biggest fruit display.

Largest Dripping Pendulum Painting (Dallas)

Artist Cole Newman along with twenty others helped setup the largest dripping pendulum painting. The canvas comes in at 2,210.4 square meters.

Largest Collection of Selena Memorabilia (Lake Jackson)

"Anything for Selena", right? That's the mentality that Andrew Longoria has. He currently holds 1,308 Selena items, which apparently no one else in the world comes close to having.

Biggest Charcuterie Board (Austin)

Central Market in Austin set the record for largest charcuterie board. It weighed 1,032 pounds, 0.4 ounces. It contained the following items

Fastest Half Marathon in Handcuffs (Fort Worth)

Some world records are weird to say the last. TaMar Hicks of Fort Worth set the fastest time for a marathon while wearing handcuffs. The record was set in February at 1 hour, 20 minutes and 36 seconds.

Longest Leather Belt (Fort Worth)

A man named Brian Sosack set the record for longest leather belt to honor his late brother who was a professional leather crafter. Brian's belt comes in at 829 feet, 6.72 inches.

Longest Survivor of an Artificial Double Heart Valve Replacement (Female) [San Antonio]

Back on Dec. 3, 1974 Maryann Kozlowski had both of her valves replaced in her heart. Those valves worked for 49 years and 92 days. She had them replaced this year, but no other woman has had a double valve heart replacement work for that long. A San Antonio hospital replaced the old valves so that is where the record was set.

Highest Tetris Score (Fort Worth)

Andrew Artiaga who goes as PixelAndy online set the record for highest score in Tetris. 8,952,432 if you want to try to beat his record.

Widest Tongue (Houston)

Someone is going to find this one very creepy or very sexy. No in between. Brittany Lacayo set the record in Houston at 3.11 inches wide.
