The Associated Press and Fox 4 News are reporting that a 5-year-old girl was bitten by a shark near Galveston Tuesday evening.
Reports say the girl was in a ring tube in the waters just off Pirates Beach when her father heard her scream and saw an approximately 4-foot shark in the water.
The girl’s father pulled her to safety. Someone fashioned a tourniquet from a dog’s leash to slow the bleeding. The girl reportedly had “significant soft tissue damage” to her leg.
At last report she was in stable condition at a Galveston area hospital.
