The origin of the Friday the 13th tattoo deal can be credited to Oliver Peck. You may remember him from the TV show Inkmaster. Back in 1996, he held a massive event at Elm Street Tattoo in Dallas with a Friday the 13th flash sale for the store's opening. Olive admits, he's not the first to do this, but he's the one who got the most attention. It has become a tradition for tattoo shops around the country.

Why is Friday the 13th Considered Unlucky?

When you think Friday the 13th nowadays, the movies with Jason come to mind. However, why was Friday the 13th considered a bad day before those movies?

The superstition is widely believed to originate from the Last Supper, where 13 people – Jesus Christ and his 12 disciples – gathered on Maundy Thursday, the night before his crucifixion by Roman soldiers on Good Friday. This links 13 to Judas Iscariot, Christ’s betrayer, and deems it imperfect compared to 12, representing the months in a yearThe union of day and date has also been traced back to King Philip IV of France arresting hundreds of Knights Templar on Friday 13 October 1307.

All info taken from The Independent. Also I learned people suffer from Paraskevidekatriaphobia which is a fear of Friday the 13th. If that is you, hate to break the news, we have two more in 2026.
