Oklahoma Documentary Shows How the Iconic Leg Lamp Almost Tore Chickasha Apart
The holiday season is wrapping up and many went to Chickasha to check out the fifty foot leg lamp. Turns out this popular stop at Christmas time was a big headache to put up.
2020 was not the best year for a lot of us, but one highlight was the giant leg lamp from 'A Christmas Story' that went up in Chickasha, Oklahoma. The leg comes in at forty feet tall and sits on a ten foot tall fragile box? Fragile must be some Italian word I am unaware of. The leg lamp returned at Christmas in 2021. Since 2022 has become a permanent part of Chickasha's downtown and is now a more solid structure compared to the previous years. Turns out, this leg lamp did not just bring smiles to the community.
Fragile Documentary Covers Chickasha's Leg Lamp
This year a documentary came out from Reagan Elkins who lives in Chickasha and covered the history of the leg lamp since it was first talked about in 2019. Turns out some folks in Chickasha are not too happy about a giant female leg in their town square. Also Warner Bros, who made 'A Christmas Story' back in the day also tried to get it taken down.
Where is the Chickasha Leg Lamp Located?
You can find it at 1st Street and Chickasha Avenue. Once you hit that downtown, it's not hard to miss. I double dog dare you to go check it out.
Where Can You Watch Fragile?
It is available on Fawesome (free with ads), Youtube movies, Vimeo on Demand, and soon Tubi. For more info on how to watch, click the documentary link here.
