With Thor: The Dark World due out in theaters in two weeks, its a perfect time to get the audiences going with a peek at Marvel's next Phase 2 film, Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

Set two years after the events of The Avengers, Steve Rogers is settling into his life in Washington D.C., adjusting to a living in a new time and working for S.H.I.E.L.D.  After an ally in S.H.I.E.L.D. is assaulted, Captain America and Agent Romanoff must team up to take on a mysterious threat, the Winter Soldier.

Fans of Captain America's history could easily see the ground work for the Winter Soldier in the first film.  If you're not familiar with the story, all I'll say is that the Winter Soldier appeared in the first film.  But the biggest challenge the filmmakers have here is not just doing justice to the Winter Soldier storyline, but also justice to the first film which was an impressive period piece and a terrific lead in to The Avengers.  Without the period piece tone of the film, it looks like they are going to have to switch gears to a "fish out of water story".  We were to get a taste of the "fish out of water" subplot in The Avengers, but those scenes were ultimately cut so they could be used in this film.  But from this early trailer, it looks like they are on the right path to make Captain America relevant in a current setting and making the Winter Soldier the appropriate threat he needs to be.

After seeing this trailer, I can't wait for more.  With Thor: The Dark World two weeks away, this coming up in April, and then X-Men: Days of Future Past on the horizon (with the first trailer due out next week), this looks to be the strongest line-up Marvel has ever had.
