ERCOT Issues Alert Over High Consumption
The Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) has initiated Energy Emergency Level 1 Alert due to operating reserves dropping below 2,300 megawatts. ERCOT operators are monitoring the situation and are asking Texas residents to reduce electric consumption where possible through 7 pm today. There has been no word issued on the possibility of so-called rolling blackouts, though officials have stated that such measures could be implemented if needed.
