You know, I've never "got" Elton John's music. I understand he's a big influence on a lot of my favorite artists (Zakk Wylde immediately comes to mind) but his music just bores the hell out of me...I see him as a pop artist that writes a rockin' tune here and there.

Needless to say, it didn't surprise me a bit when he slammed artists like Dave Grohl, Kings Of Leon and Slash for not allowing their music to be on Glee. During his appearance on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon last Thursday night (March 31st) he had this to say:

"Lighten up, you assholes. It's a compliment when someone records or does one of your songs. It doesn't matter if it's a bad version, it's just a compliment, so I've never lost that thrill. Kings Of Leon, lighten up guys. Come on."

Speaking of assholes, they're just like opinions...everyone has one and here's mine: I've never watched a second of an episode of Glee but I know enough to know that it's some sort of musical show that is a pop culture sensation. And that's where Elton misses the boat...he embraces pop culture whereas artists like Dave Grohl and KOL want no part of it. Allowing their music to be used on a show like Glee really "bubble gums" your image and a lot of bands don't want to compromise their integrity. I love Kiss, but you have to admit while they've made millions over the years they've lost a lot of respect and credibility in the music world because of some of the decisions they've made over the years (remember "Kiss Meets The Phantom Of The Park"?). I for one can't blame anyone for not wanting to be associated with a "flavor of the day" show like Glee.
