A classic prank has turned into a murder investigation in Texas.

Looks like a group of kids decided to pull a prank in their neighborhood Saturday night. They were going around their Houston neighborhood ringing people's doorbells and knocking on their doors. They would flee the scene before the door opens. These kids were pulling these pranks pretty late at night. It was happening around 11PM on Saturday night in the area of Mimbrough and Fidelity streets.

Looks like one homeowner had a firearm when they heard their door being knocked on at 11PM. When they opened the door and saw the group of kids running away fired several shots in their direction. An 11-year-old boy was struck several times in the back and taken to the hospital where he later died from his injuries.

Self Defense or Murder?

The argument that many are having today is that this group of kids were probably waking up a bunch of the neighborhood since this is happening fairly late on Saturday night. However, since the group was running away from the individual, Houston police believe they do not have enough to say this was self defense and will most likely lead to a murder charge, according to KHOU.

Homicide Police Investigating Surveillance Footage in the Area

Police are asking for anyone in this neighborhood that has security cameras to come forward and share any footage they might have from Saturday night. It appears the boy was shot pretty far away from the front door of this property.
