Looks like with the latest Legislature coming to a close in Texas. The Lieutenant Governor wants to give his thoughts on how the latest session went.

Dan Patrick to Speak at Wichita Falls Regional Airport Today

This afternoon (June 10, 2025) the Lieutenant Governor of Texas, Dan Patrick is holding what he's calling “Post Session Press Conference”. The 89th Texas Legislature just concluded last Monday and he's expected to discuss all of the major topics that were discussed and voted on the past couple of months. The press conference is scheduled for 2:55PM at 4000 Armstrong Drive in Wichita Falls.

What Will Dan Patrick Discuss in Wichita Falls?

The day after the Legislative session ended Dan Patrick released a statement on what he deemed a successful session with passing 40 key Conservative bills. Several of these failed in the last Legislative session, but he was able to help many of them pass this time around.

Key Bills that Passed the Texas Legislative Session in 2025

• Eliminating school property taxes for the average senior homeowner with a $200,000 senior homestead exemption ($140,000 homestead exemption for homeowners under age 65) and dedicating nearly 1 out of every 4 state dollars in our budget toward property tax relief (Senate Bill 1, SB 4, SB 23, Senate Joint Resolution 2, SJR 85)
• Launching the largest school choice program in American history (SB 2)

What Happens to These Bills Now?

Governor Abbott has 20 days to either sign, veto, or allow bills to become law without his signature. If the Governor takes no action, the bill automatically becomes law after the 20-day period. Bills vetoed during the session can be overridden by a two-thirds vote in each chamber. We will wait and see what happens in the next few weeks to these bills.
