A Dallas Fourth of July block party got out of hand when fireworks went off inside an SUV.

Why I Love the Fourth (and Fireworks—Usually)

I love the Fourth of July. It’s my favorite holiday. And I’m all for popping fireworks...safely. The folks in the video below apparently aren’t of the same mindset.

That’s my only complaint about the Fourth. Even though they know it’s illegal, people will pop fireworks inside city limits way into the night.

Not that I’m an angel. The younger me had no problem firing off artillery shells in the alley behind the house and then running for cover. Several years and two kids later, I have no interest in that sort of thing.

What Were They Thinking?

The thing that baffles me about the incident is that it didn’t occur to anyone in that line of vehicles that it’s an incredibly bad idea to be stuck inside a vehicle with the windows down a few feet from where people are setting off artillery shells. But I will say this: everyone inside the SUV learned the hard way.

So, view this post as a Public Service Announcement. As the old saying goes – play stupid games, win stupid prizes.
