If you missed the news, the Dallas Stars will be playing the 2027 Stadium Series at AT&T Stadium.

To anybody watching Monday Night Football last night, you might have thought it was a little odd that the NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman was in attendance. Obviously, something hockey related was coming to North Texas and it looks like the Dallas Stars will be hosting the Stadium Series for the first time ever.

Hockey Coming to AT&T Stadium

Typically the Stadium Series has been played in outdoor venues like The Winter Classic. However in 2026, The Winter Classic is being played in Miami where the Marlins play. It is a closed venue that has a roof that can open.

Could AT&T Stadium Set an Attendance Record for Hockey?

In the proposed plans above, it has no fans on the field level. So that means the standard AT&T Stadium seats for football will be the only ones used. Standing room tickets will also be available, but it will be tough to beat the record set at 104,173 people. That happened in Ann Arbor, Michigan for The Winter Classic back in 2014.

Basketball allows for fans on field level to fill in more seats at AT&T Stadium. 108,713 people watched the 2010 NBA All Star Game at AT&T Stadium which is the current single day event record at the stadium. I attended the Winter Classic in Dallas back in 2020 and it is without a doubt a top five sports experience of my life. I will 100% be in attendance at AT&T stadium for this game. Check out more from that Winter Classic in Dallas below.

Looking Back at the 2020 Winter Classic in Dallas
