Odds on Which College Player the Dallas Mavericks Take at Number One
Last night was the NBA Lottery and in a crazy turn of events. The Dallas Mavericks got the number one pick.
NBA Lottery Rigged?
For literal decades, we have heard that the NBA lottery is rigged. Patrick Ewing to the Knicks and Shaquille O'Neal to the Magic are the big examples of what many people believe to be the NBA rigging the lottery. However, many believe it has happened multiple times throughout the years. Well last night the Dallas Mavericks had a 1.80% chance to get the first overall pick.
The Mavericks fanbase could not be lower right now. Trading away your 25-year-old star player in the middle of the night and failing to make the playoffs after going to the NBA Finals the previous season. (Reminder: The NBA does not consider the play-in tournament as a team qualifying for the playoffs). Well guess who miraculously got the number one pick last night?
Watch the Dallas Mavericks Receive the Number One Overall Pick
A franchise that is projected to lose millions over the next few years after trading away Luka suddenly has the opportunity to draft whoever they want as the next young face of the franchise. According to FanDuel, these are the four best prospects to take that number one overall slot.
Best Odds: Cooper Flagg (Guard/Forward from Duke)
2nd Best Odds: Dylan Harper (Guard from Rutgers)
3rd Best Odds (TIE): Ace Bailey (Guard/Forward from Rutgers)
3rd Best Odds (TIE) V.J. Edgecome (Guard from Baylor)
Many believe it's without question Cooper Flagg is the number one overall pick and some sports 'experts' are saying the Mavericks should actually trade this pick. Not kidding, video below.
Let me say this, Phoenix could literally give me Devin Booker for free and I wouldn't want him. If you're thinking of trading the first overall pick for him you're an idiot. Then again, Nico Harrison is the GM so I know for a fact it's possible he does something stupid in the next few months with this pick. We will wait to see what happens, but last night the future of the Dallas Mavericks wasn't so dark as it has been the past few months.
