Wild Video Shows Deep Ellum Chaos as Cops Flood Dallas Street

Deep Ellum in Dallas is like the wild west after the sun goes down. Hang out at your risk when the lights come on. The video below is a great example of that.

Don’t get me wrong – I've had many great times in Deep Ellum, most of which involved concerts. But I quickly learned that it’s best to get out of there before midnight, if possible. That’s when the vibe turns from festive to sketchy.

Speaking of sketchy, an incident was so bad that a ton of cops showed up on the scene to diffuse the situation. Hell, they even had to tase a guy multiple times to subdue him. Just watching the dude get lit up by that taser hurt me.

As is usually the case with these types of videos, I don’t know what led to all those police being called to the scene. All I know is that at least two people were hauled to jail in the wake of the incident. But I think it’s safe to assume that it was all fueled by copious amounts of alcohol (and who knows what else).

Many of the people commenting on the video point out that Deep Ellum used to be a cool place to hang out. That’s why I stick to the Fort Worth Stockyards when I’m out for a night in the Metroplex. My experience is that folks are typically much cooler there.
