College in Texas Ranked Among the Worst in the Country

Don’t shoot the messenger. 

I know we Texans take a lot of pride in our state. While it’s far from perfect, I don’t have any desire to live anywhere else (and I’ve seen much of this world thanks to the United States Navy). 

So, I love it when I get the chance to brag about my home state. And while I don’t love it when I must share some bad news regarding the Lone Star State, it’s important to report both the positive and the negative.

And today I have some bad news about a certain college in Texas. 

Researchers at avocadoposts.com put in the work to determine the worst colleges in the country. They used factors like low graduation rates, high tuition costs, and poor return on investment to reach their conclusions. 

When all was said and done, researchers found Texas College in Tyler to be among the worst in the nation, ranked as the 48th worst college overall. 

What led to Texas College receiving such a low ranking? 

Texas College has an extremely low graduation rate of 12%. The average loan debt of $21,000 paired with a six-year average salary of $23,000 also contributed to its low ranking. 

The way I see it, it’s never too late to turn things around. Hopefully, people who are much brighter than I am can do just that. 

This story isn’t without a bright side, though. At least only one college in Texas made the list. Several other states had multiple colleges on the list, so there’s that.
