Wichita Falls Kid Makes Half a Million Dollar Kick on College Gameday
The pressure was on Saturday morning in Lubbock for a former high school athlete here in Texoma.
Saturday morning, the college football world was introduced to John Machtolff. Now John is currently a Texas Tech senior. He's hoping to be a dentist one day. However, just a few years ago he was living in Wichita Falls. He actually went to Archer City for high school and unfortunately John had a high pressure kick in a game back in 2020.
Windthorst VS Archer City 2020
Back in 2020, Windthorst would go onto win state. However, they almost added their first loss of the season when they came to Archer City. The Wildcats took the lead in the fourth quarter, but sadly John missed an extra point. The Windthorst Trojans would get another touchdown and the extra point. Archer City would try to get another drive going, but sadly that missed extra point would not force overtime. John's redemption kick happened Saturday.
John's Redemption Kick for Half a Million!!!!!
Sadly, John missed his first kick, but he got another go. $250,000 for him and $250,000 for charity if he nails it. John has probably thought about that kick against Windthorst a time or two the past few years, but this is for HALF A MILLION DOLLARS. Pressure was on and JOHN DELIVERED. Attempt number two through the uprights.
Wichita Falls Gets National Attention
Shout out to John for a positive story for one of our very own. We will wait and see what John does with the money. I am sure some Wichita Falls charity would love a slice of that $250,000.
