The Texas City Named the Sweatiest in the Country
In today’s not-so-shocking news, a city in Texas was named the sweatiest in the U.S.
If you’ve ever traveled the country during the summer, you know the heat in Texas is just different. It can be downright suffocating during the dog days of summer.
A guy from California once told me that even though the temperature would get into the triple digits where he lived, there was no humidity (the so-called dry heat). So, it didn’t feel nearly as hot there as it does here.
I also have a friend who grew up in North Texas, moved to Georgia for about a year and a half, and recently moved back. It’s the opposite of California there in that they have high humidity, but the temperatures don’t get as high as here. So, it took him a minute to get re-acclimated to the heat when he returned.
So yeah, we get the worst kind of heat in the Lone Star State.
Couple high temperatures with high humidity and you’ll break a heavy sweat simply by taking the trash out. Going outside during the day isn’t much fun this time of year.
However, staying inside all day isn’t an option for a lot of people. So, most of us just have to bear the heat and sweat it out.
But who among us Texans are the sweatiest?
That would be the citizens of our state capital, Austin. Thumbtack conducted a study to determine the sweatiest U.S. cities using data from millions of projects. I should also point out that Dallas-Fort Worth and Houston were ranked in the Top 10. Again, no surprise there.
